Volunteer Job Description
Special Projects Volunteer
Purpose of Position: Assists Library staff in carrying out special projects as needed. Special projects may include, but are not limited to, distributing surveys, collecting statistical information, assisting with bulk mailings, and others.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 14 years old.
- Commitment to the mission of the Library.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work independently.
- Aptitude for detail and neatness.
Essential Physical Skills:
- Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction).
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Distributes surveys to Library users.
- Observes and counts use of library materials.
- Sorts and prepares items for bulk mailing.
- Gives supervisor sufficient notice if unable to keep shift assignment.
- Notifies supervisor of problems or suggestions for improvement.
Training Provided:
- Orientation to the Library.
- Instruction in the specific special project.
Responsible to: Designated Supervisor
Time Commitment: Varies, as needed.
Length of Commitment: NA
Grounds for Termination:
- Failure to carry out assigned responsibilities.
- Breach of confidentiality.
- Unacceptable behavior toward Library users or staff.
