Purpose of Position: Assists with the maintenance of the Library’s parking lot and flowerbeds. A well-kept exterior helps the Library to maintain a neat and attractive overall appearance and a positive impression for Library users.

• Must be at least 14 years old.
• Commitment to the mission of the Library.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work independently.
• Aptitude for detail and neatness.

• Ability to bend to the ground.
• Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction).

• Weeds flowerbeds.
• Sweeps parking lot and sidewalks to maintain unobstructed paths.
• Removes trash and litter from Library exterior, including parking lot and flowerbeds.
• Refers patron requests or questions to appropriate Library staff.
• Gives supervisor sufficient notice if unable to keep shift assignment.
• Notifies supervisor of problems or suggestions for improvement.

• Orientation to the Library.
• Instruction for assignment.

Responsible to: Branch Manager and/or Designated Supervisor

Time Commitment: Minimum of 1 hour

Length of Commitment: No ongoing commitment necessary

• Failure to carry out assigned responsibilities.
• Breach of confidentiality.
• Unacceptable behavior toward Library users or staff.
